One of the biggest appeals for me about the Roaring 1920s era is the flappers. There’s something so sassy, elegant, and strong about them. And in fact, my own great grandmother was a flapper! I love seeing pictures of her during that time, and she is my biggest inspiration for any flapper I draw. Flapper fashion embraced all things modern. Short “bobbed” hair, boyish figures, makeup, and exposed limbs, were all the rage. Because the fashionable dresses of this period were less complicated than earlier fashions, women were much more successful at being able to make them at home. High fashion until the twenties had mainly been for the wealthy, but now was becoming more and more accessible to everyone.
